ABOUT ME
Steven was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in Psychology. Soon after graduating, he joined HBO Sports, where he helped produce two Emmy-nominated feature length documentaries.
He went on to attend The American Film Institute where the American Cinema Editors (ACE) honored him with an EDDIE nomination for his work and his thesis film, This Way Up, received a Student Academy Award.
Upon graduating from AFI, Steven participated in Film Independent’s Project Involve and became a member of the Motion Pictures Editors Guild. He also joined the ACE Diversity Mentorship Program and was named a finalist for Sundance’s Sally Menke Fellowship.
He’s worked as an assistant editor in both episodic TV as well as feature films, most notably Netflix’s The Kominsky Method and Marvel Studio’s Black Panther.
In 2020, he edited the feature film Really Love, directed by Angel Kristi Williams and produced by Charles D. King’s MACRO. The film premiered at AFI Fest and won the Special Jury Award at the SXSW Film Festival.
Steven lives in Los Angeles with his wife and kids. He believes film, at its best, can be used as a vehicle for social change. He makes a mean Trinidadian Oxtail Stew, thinks Biggie is better than Tupac and is, for better or for worse, a diehard New York Mets fan.
